2009-03-26 : SODERN has been selected by Orbital Science Corporation (USA) for COTS programme
Further to the success of SODERN star trackers and Rendezvous sensors onboard the first ATV (Jules Verne) in spring last year, OSC has awarded a contract to SODERN for the supply of  SED26 star trackers for its Commercial Orbital Transportation Service programme. At least nine flight sets in total should be ordered by OSC to fulfil the NASA COTS contracts and eventually other could follow after the success of the first CRS mission.

2008-10-16 : One million of successful operating hours in orbit for the SED16-26
Since the first launch in May 2002 onboard the SPOT5 satellite, more than 50 SED16 or SED26 autonomous star trackers have been placed in orbit and have cumulated more than one million hours of successful operation. The last launch occurred on October 2nd onboard THEOS satellite, an Earth observation programme of Thailand. Added to the other SODERN star tracker products, the cumulated operating lifetime in flight reach now a new record 200 years in orbit without failure!

2008-04-03 : Sodern has guided the ATV to its first successful docking to the ISS
With two SED16 Autonomous Star Sensors and two Videometer aboard the ATV Jules Verne, SODERN was proud to contribute to this premiere in Europe. Both equipments have performed better than expected an no anomaly was encountered during this first flight. It was also the In-Flight qualification for the Videometer which provides the nominal Line Of Sight and Distance information to the ATV for its last 250 m before the docking to the ISS, it although delivers the relative attitude during the last 30m.

2008-01-14 : first PLEIADES Flight Model focal plane delivered
The qualification of the PLEIADES focal plane was obtained at the end of 2007 and the Proto-Flight Model has just been delivered to TAS F which is responsible of the PLEIADES instrument. This first flight model has successfully passed environmental tests and fullfills all performance requirements.

This innovative focal plane, including Silicon Carbide structure, stripe filters, high frequency TDI CCDs, will contribute to dramatic improvement of the performances of the civil French Earth Observation program.

2007-12-17 : SODERN selected by TAS F to develop the SENTINEL 3 OLCI camera
In the frame of the GMES european initiative, SODERN will supply the OLCI cameras for the Sentinel 3 satellites. This development relies on similar cameras developped for MERIS on ENVISAT that give excellent in-flight results.
