Imager POLDER

The aim of the POLDER experiment is to observe the polarisation and directionality of the solar radiation reflected by the Earth atmosphere system over all of the Earth's surface.
To achieve this, POLDER takes images of the Earth over a wide field- of- view in several spectral bands and polarisation states .

The optical system developed by SODERN includes a wide-FOV telecentric lens and a rotating wheel that holds spectral filters and optical polarisers. Two models have been successfully operated on the Japanese satellites ADEOS1 and ADEOS2.

A third improved version has flown on board the French CNES micro-satellite PARASOL since the end of 2004.
