RENDEZ-VOUS SENSOR

faisceauxVDM

The VIDEOMETER Assembly (VDM) is the main sensor that supports the automatic rendezvous and docking between the European Automatic Transfer Vehicle (ATV) and the International Space Station (ISS).

VDM

Its design is directly based on the SED16 Star Tracker, with specially adapted features. Both VDM and SED16 are contributing to ATV navigation and docking with the ISS.

The first two Flight Models were delivered in 2004 to equip the Jules Verne, the first ATV, successfully docked with the ISS in April 2008.

The second ATV model, Johannes Kepler, has been also successfully docked with the ISS in February 2011, thanks to SODERN’s VDM and SED16.
