SED26

sed16

The SED16/26 is a three-axis, fully autonomous, multipurpose star tracker. This sensor is suitable for three-axis satellite attitude control whether the orbit is LEO, MEO, GEO, or Deep Space.

The SED26 is the ITAR-free version of the SED16.

The main features of the SED16/26 are:

  • considerable legacy,
  • highly robust for space environment conditions, in particular radiations,
  • automatic acquisition of 3-axis attitude during its initialisation,
  • autonomous operation that requires minimal AOCS management,
  • provision of a three-axis attitude at a high frequency (up to 10 Hz),
  • ntegration of compact equipment in a single unit,
  • high rate/acceleration capabilities : 10°/s / 10°/s² @10 Hz

The SED16/26 has been qualified in-flight since the SPOT5 French observation satellite launch, in May 2002. Its in-flight performances are proven, and it is hardened to proton radiation.
Various versions of the SED16/26 are available depending on the required baffle protection angle, the output data interface, etc...

Optical and electrical ground support equipments are also available to help the Customer during integration.

As of September 2011:
- 76 SED16/26/36 are already successfully operating in orbit, 34 of them in geostationary orbit
- around 200 star trackers have been ordered by Customers world-wide
