Sodern will contribute to three Copernicus missions

Sodern has been pre-selected by ESA to supply Hydra star trackers for 3 Copernicus missions. A total of six satellites will be fitted with 18 optical heads and 12 electronic units:
The 2 satellites of the CO2M (Copernicus Anthropogenic Carbon Dioxide Monitoring) program will monitor human CO2 emissions for climate change studies. Sodern is very proud to start a new collaboration with the renowned German satellite manufacturer OHB and will do its utmost to provide the best service with its state-of-the-art Hydra star trackers.

Using cutting-edge infrared thermal sensors, the LSTM (Copernicus Land Surface Temperature Monitoring) program will provide highly accurate temperature data of the Earth’s surface. This mission responds to priority requirements of the agricultural community for improving sustainable productivity at field-scale in a world of increasing water scarcity and variability. As part of the LSTM mission, Sodern enthusiastically continue working with one of its oldest customers, Airbus Defence & Space.

The two CRISTAL satellites (Copernicus Polar Ice and Snow Topography Altimeter), also be produced by Airbus Defense & Space, will study glaciers and the polar ice caps of our planet.

Sodern is proud to participate in these challenging missions to monitor Earth’s climate and will eagerly put its expertise to work in the service of its customers.
